Wedding Trends to Watch Out For in 2018

Hanging wedding flowers

While we will always love the wedding trends of 2017 – think greenery, rustic tables and chairs, bespoke lighting effects and more – we’re ready to embrace the beautiful and fun trends of 2018. Here’s what you can expect this season.

1. The Pantone Colour of the Year – Ultra Violet

Ultra Violet has been named the ‘Colour of the Year’ for 2018 and will be popping up in every aspect of design - including your wedding. The use of purple-toned lighting is said to energise the community and inspire connection, perfect for your dance floor! We can also expect to see more subtle hues injected into cake designs, florals and decorations.

2. Floral Installations

Floral arrangements already play a vital part in weddings, but in 2018 floral décor has no limits! A sophisticated floral installation makes a perfect back-drop for photos, whilst space-saving hanging flowers and wreathes provide a striking statement.

3. Transparent elements

2018 will be the year of see-through settings and décor. Marquees, chairs, accessories and even welcome signs will embrace this growing transparent wedding trend, providing a fantastic style choice for minimalist couples.

4. Creative food and drink

The traditional wedding breakfast is on its way out. Instead, couples want to serve food and drink they love. Think comfort food, festival style food trucks, sharing feasts, cocktail bars and casual dining.

5. The Royal influence

And finally…the countdown to another royal wedding is on. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will marry this spring. Speculation and predictions on the wedding dress, the guest list and performers are already circulating, and with that being said, we can ensure that this wedding will be a big influence for years to come.

We look forward to seeing the trends making an appearance at weddings this season. To find out how we can help bring your event ideas to life, call Greenhill on 01962 777 812.
